The 802.11ay Wi-Fi standard was developed by Qualcomm together with wireless analysis and testing company Sporton. Before the standard was certified by the FCC, Qualcomm had launched the first two 60GHz Wi-Fi chipsets, QCA64x8 (PC-side) and QCA64x1 (mobile-side), which provide high speed and low latency WiFi signals with lower power consumption. Qualcomm says this is the industry’s first 60GHz Wi-Fi solution for 802.11ay, enabling best-in-class 60GHz Wi-Fi speeds and unmatched coverage performance.

Qualcomm claimed to have solved the coverage problem of 802.11ay when it launched the chipset in 18 years, but the specific application will depend on the actual application of the standard.
802.11ay has a wide range of applications, including 4K HD transmission and gaming experience, lag-free wireless screen casting and wireless VR/AR experience, and other scenarios that require high-speed network transmission.
